Delray Palm Drift by Todd Waxberg

Statement

Looking toward the light

My work begins with a simple instinct: to look toward the light. I am drawn to the point where a waterfront, palm, room, or stage stops feeling purely documentary and starts carrying presence, energy, drift, and atmosphere.

  • Final image first
  • Motion as trace
  • South Florida as field

My work begins with a simple instinct: to look toward the light.

Field Notes

South Florida is source material

The ocean, the Intracoastal, palm-lined streets, moonlight, and venue lighting are not backdrop. They determine the color, pace, and atmosphere of the image, even when the final frame pushes toward abstraction.

  • Waterfront glare and horizon lines
  • Stage beams, haze, and crowd silhouettes
  • Motion blur, afterimage, and exposure drift

Biography

Todd Waxberg is a self-taught South Florida artist whose photography and video are rooted in more than three decades of living with the region’s coastal light, music, and atmosphere.

From palm-lined waterfronts and the Intracoastal to local music venues, he treats light not simply as illumination but as a living presence that shapes memory, energy, and connection. Sunrise, sunset, moonlight, stage glow, and reflective surfaces become the material of the work.

He is drawn to the moments when light transforms the familiar. A palm becomes a column of radiance. A concert becomes a field of motion and luminous rhythm. Grounded in a distinctly Delray sensibility, the work stays vibrant, direct, and unpretentious, holding the point where beaches, music, community, and atmosphere meet.
