Shine Submission

Notes for the Arts Garage application: portal constraints, the recommended image package, and the current set of form answers.

Recommended Package

Lead with the works that best fit Shine.

The strongest fit is the work that feels radiant, optimistic, and resolved from the first frame. These three pieces map most directly to the call’s language around perseverance, self-discovery, confidence, and work that lights up the room.
Ormond Awakening

Top submission work

Ormond Awakening

A sunrise on the shores of Ormond Beach resolves into a glowing heart, turning a brief natural moment into a symbol of optimism, self-discovery, and earned triumph.
Best thematic match to the call’s language around inner light, triumph, and radiant transformation.
Delray Palm Drift

Featured submission work

Delray Palm Drift

An abstract palm study from Delray Beach where sun, sky, and movement dissolve into radiant vertical motion and a bright coastal wash of light.
Strong visual fit for Shine because the final frame is bright, atmospheric, and immediately eye-catching.
Luminous Frequency

Featured submission work

Luminous Frequency

At a Pigeons Playing Ping Pong show in Fort Lauderdale, stage lighting becomes the subject, turning music, mirrored panels, and crowd energy into a shimmering field of motion.
Good fit when framed around collective energy, illumination, and the transformation of live experience into light.

Submission strategy

How the package works

Lead trio
Ormond Awakening, Delray Palm Drift, and Luminous Frequency
Portal behavior
Upload final stills only. Use the site to carry the motion and process context.
Tone to emphasize
Earned radiance, persistence, confidence, self-discovery, and work that lights up the room
Todd to confirm
Eligibility, pricing, print sizes, direct contact details, and whether any brighter study pieces should replace darker performance work

Proposed 8-image upload set

Use the final stills only for the Arts Garage portal, and rename the export files so the file names clearly match the piece names.

Proposed upload order:

  1. 01-ormond-awakening.jpg
  2. 02-delray-palm-drift.jpg
  3. 03-luminous-frequency.jpg
  4. 04-emerald-suspension.jpg
  5. 05-star-spangled-haze.jpg
  6. 06-green-pulse.jpg
  7. 07-emerald-chandelier.jpg
  8. 08-fuchsia-cascade.jpg

Notes:

  • The first three carry the submission concept.
  • The remaining five broaden the range without breaking the Shine! tone.
  • If Todd wants a cleaner, brighter set, Star-Spangled Haze is the first candidate to swap.
  • The site remains the place where video and process are experienced; the portal itself stays concise and image-led.

Artist Bio
Current answer: ToddWaxStudios is the art practice of Todd Waxberg, a self-taught South Florida artist whose photography and video are rooted in more than three decades of living with the region’s coastal light, music, and atmosphere. Working between palm-lined waterfronts, the Intracoastal, and local music venues, he treats light not simply as illumination but as a living presence that shapes memory, energy, and connection. His images move across sunrise, sunset, moonlight, stage glow, and reflective surfaces, turning familiar scenes into studies of radiance, motion, and mood. Grounded in a distinctly Delray sensibility, his work reveals what locals know instinctively: in South Florida, light is not just seen, it is felt.
Artist Statement
Current answer: My work begins with a simple instinct: to look toward the light. After more than three decades in South Florida, I have been shaped by the region’s rhythms: sunrise over the ocean, late afternoon along the Intracoastal, the stillness of moonlight, and the electric atmosphere of local music venues. I am drawn to the moments when light transforms the familiar. A palm becomes a column of radiance. A concert becomes a field of motion and energy. In these images, light is not only illumination but a living presence that connects people, places, and time. Each piece is an attempt to hold that fleeting alignment when light, life, and feeling meet.

Upload 8 High Resolution Images of Your Work with file names matching the name of each piece

Current answer: Upload all of the strongest final stills that can be exported at true high resolution.

If all eight proposed works can be exported cleanly, use the full set listed above. If not, prioritize the strongest finished images first and only submit pieces that have real print-capable stills.

Use file names that match the piece names cleanly:

  • 01-ormond-awakening.jpg
  • 02-delray-palm-drift.jpg
  • 03-luminous-frequency.jpg
  • 04-emerald-suspension.jpg
  • 05-star-spangled-haze.jpg
  • 06-green-pulse.jpg
  • 07-emerald-chandelier.jpg
  • 08-fuchsia-cascade.jpg
Size of Artwork (can be a range)

Current answer: Current confirmed working size starts at 12 x 16 inches on canvas, with final piece-by-piece sizes still being confirmed across the full set.

If the final presentation shifts to tile format for some pieces, update this field to match the actual produced size before submission.

Price Range of Artwork

Current answer: Approximately $250 to $500, subject to the final piece and finish.

Confirm the final pricing once the exact submitted pieces and print finishes are locked.

Any additional Social Media Links to your artwork
Current answer: None yet unless a dedicated art Instagram, TikTok, or portfolio link is live before submission.
I understand that failure to respond within 72 hours to email communication from the Art Curator, Naja Hardmon, will disqualify you from being showcased in the exhibit you have applied for.
Current answer: I will respond in a timely manner by email if selected.
